How are your products different from normal cleaning products?
Normal cleaning products are derived from petroleum-based resources and may contain harsh chemicals such as phosphates, caustics and other chemicals that can be hazardous to the user and the environment. Our ingredients are all plant-derived from plant materials.
What do you mean by plant derived?
The initial ingredients are extracted from annual crops such as potatoes, citrus, maize and oils as well as other plants. These raw materials are further processed to make active ingredients for our gentle cleaning products.
All cleaning products will need to be nasty to work - don't they?
No. As a result of our raw material sources the products are significantly less toxic and less irritating to sensitive skins.
Why are your products eco-friendly?
All of the raw materials are derived from plant based materials which are annual crops, therefore unlike normal cleaning products where the raw materials are petroleum-based a depleting world resource, the raw materials are easily renewable. In addition, because of the origin of the raw materials, they are extremely biodegradable, hence having no impact on aquatic life. We do not use any harsh chemicals or phosphates.
How can you be sure that the raw materials are renewed?
All of our raw material suppliers are carefully selected to ensure that they adopt ethical policies not only with regard to the re-plantation but have good community and environmental policies as well.
Do they contain phosphates and why are they bad for the environment?
Phosphates are used to soften hard water as cleaning agents and counteract other constituents that tap water contains. They are commonly used in cleaning formulations even some of those claiming to be Eco-Friendly. Phosphates are harmful to the environment when they are discharged into streams and rivers as they encourage growth of substances such as algae which reduces available oxygen for fish. None of our formulations contain phosphates.
Are your products tested on animals?
No. Neither the raw materials nor finished products are tested on animals.
There are many more eco-friendly cleaners around – how are yours different?
As we have said before, all of our products contain only plant based materials, unfortunately there are several products claiming to be eco-friendly that contain ingredients that cannot be classed as eco-friendly.
I have tried eco-friendly cleaning products but they do not work as well as the chemical cleaners?
We hear this comment a great deal. Science has moved on and we have managed to come up with formulations that are as effective as or better than the chemical equivalent. This is proven by the fact that our products have won best buy in magazines such as Which and Good Housekeeping.
What is your carbon footprint?
We are in the process of calculating the carbon footprint for our products. Care needs to be taken over low carbon footprints as the products may contain harsh chemicals such as caustics.
Who has endorsed the products?
WWF endorses the products and the RSPCA also approve of the products. Antony Worrall Thompson, the celebrity chef, tried the products and was so impressed that he wished to be involved in the business.
Are the products safe for septic tanks?
Yes, all of the products in the range are suitable for use in septic tanks.
